Our software options are located in a server environment which are accessed via an RDP connection. This article will walk you through the steps on getting the RDP icon added to a PC (which will require Windows 8 or higher), MAC, or phone/tablet that can download an RDP icon from an app store. In order to download the iconcomplete this process, you’ll need to have a user account that the support team adds internally, as well as a unique email address for the usercreated for you.
Adding a user is done by an authorized representatives of your company reaching out to support via calling 888-236-8025 or emailing Support@CarvinSoftware.com and providing the needed information, at which point the user can proceedyour first name, last name, company name, and unique email address.
Downloading The Icon
If you’re accessing the RDP website for the first time, you’ll follow the below steps of having to reset your password before you’ll be able to login. If you’ve downloaded the icon before, you wont be prompted to reset your password and can simply login with your RDP (or “First”) login information. If you’re needing a password reset, please review the Password Reset Article.
Open up your internet browser and navigate to https://connect.carvinsoftware.com. From here you’ll see a login screen will need the username and password that the support team created, and will likely be in the format of Firstname.Lastname@Carvinsoftware.com for the username, and Password1 for the Password. Enter in your credentials and click “Sign In”
From here you’ll enter in where you’ll enter your username, which will be structured as FirstName.LastName@CarvinSoftware.com and your temporary Password1 for the password, then click “Sign in”.
The screen will refresh and largely look the same, but now you’ll have the message that your password is expired with a link to click and change it. Click the word “here”.
Once you click the “here” link, you’ll be taken to the next page that will display your username, a current password box with the pre-filled temporary password, and two empty boxes where you can enter and confirm your new password. Once filled out, click “Submit” and you’ll see the message that the password has been successfully changed. Below are the password requirements:
Cannot Contain your first or last name
Cannot contain the word password
Must be at least 7 characters long
Must start with a letter
Must include a capital letter
Must include a number

If for any reason you mismatch the two new passwords or fail to meet the requirements, the screen will refresh and you’ll need to enter Password1 into the “Current password” box again. |
Once you’ve set your password (or had no need to if reset in the past), login with the username and new password, which will take you to the below screen. Clicking Click the RDP icon once may give you the option to Open or Save, you’ll want to save “save” to download it to your computer to your default downloads folder, and will already have the remote desktop settings already set to connect to the server environment.
For conveniences sake we suggest users you move the icon out of the downloads folder to their your desktop by cutting and pasting or dragging and dropping the icon.
Logging In
With the icon downloaded and moved to your desktop you’re clear to double click the RDP icon and access the software as usual. The username and password prompt will be the Firstname.Lastname@Carvinsoftware.com and new password that you just set during the password reset process.
Adding the RDP Connection for MAC
If this is the first time logging in, you’ll want to follow the above steps for resetting your password on the https://connect.carvinsoftware.com website. Once you’ve reset your password, skip downloading the RDP icon and instead follow the steps outlined in this section.
First, navigate to the App Store, search for “Microsoft Remote Desktop”, then click the icon to download and install. You may be prompted for your Apple ID’s credentials to download and install the application. This would be your iCloud username and password.
Once downloaded, click “OPEN” to open up the application. Keep in mind that you can access this from your Applications folder as well. From within the RDP application you’ll then click on “Add PC” to start configuring a connection.
On the next screen, you’ll fill in the following information:
PC Name: cs-term5-b.carvinsoftware.com:5444
Friendly Name: Carvin (if you alredy have a separate Carvin entry, you’ll want to give it a new name so you can distinguish between the two or remove the old RDP connection entry)
User Account: This can be left as “Ask when required” which will ask you for your credentials upon logging in. Alternatively, you can store your credentials to avoid having to enter them each time.
You’ll then need to click “Add Gateway” and enter “gateway.carvinsoftware.com” for both fields, then click “Add”. You’ll then click on the “Devices & Audio” section and make sure the “Printers” and “Clipboard” boxes are checked.
Adding The RDP Connection To Phones/Tablets
This process remains largely the same between most devices, with the first step to download the Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App store which typically has this as the icon.
Once downloaded, open the app and tap the plus button on the upper right of the screen and chose Desktop. On this screen you’ll fill out in the folllwing following Fields:
PC Name: cs-broker-a.carvinsoftware.com:5444
Username: Your RDP (or “first login) username.
Gateway: Gateway.carvinsoftware.com After you hit save you should be able to login.
You can also store your user account if you'd like as opposed to having to enter it each time, but this part is optional. Once done tap Save, and the process has been completed.
