For a computer to print/email from the software, it requires that Thinprint is installed. This article details how to download, install, then setup both the MICR font for printing checks, as well as the Thinprint program to connect your local printers to the software, which are two separate download and installation processes.

Open up the internet browser you commonly use and navigate to https://Download.CarvinSoftware.com/ . From here, you’ll need to download the MICR font (which allows you to cut checks with the correct MICR line at the bottom of the check), and Thinprint (which connects your local printers to the software). Depending on the version of windows you have, you’ll either need to download the 32 or 64 version of Thinprint.

With the MICR font now downloaded, open the “MICR Font.zip” file either from your downloads folder or the download confirmation pop up that typically displays when downloads are ready. Inside the zip file, you’ll open the folder named “ADVMICR”, and inside this folder you’ll see a file named “ADVMICR” as shown below.

Once you double click the file, you’ll receive the below window where you can click “Install” on the top. A brief installation box will show and the button will go grey, at which point you can close the MICR installation window and the font has been installed.

From the same downloads folder, open the downloaded “ThinPrint” folder, then “Thinprint Client Windows 10 x64”, then the “Software” folder, and finally double click the “Setup_ThinPrintClient_x64” icon.

You’ll likely be prompted to extract all the files in the folders as shown below, from here you’ll click “Run”. This will show the Thinprint Installation screen, where you’ll need to click “Next” through all the displayed options and agree to the terms and conditions, then after a short wait you’ll click “Finish”.

Once you click “Finish”, you’ll then search for Thinprint on your computer and open it. Searching for the Thinprint program will vary from computer to computer, if you click the start button and type “Thinprint” you’ll likely see the program.

With the Thinprint program open you’ll click the “Assignment” tab which will display the list of printer options that Thinprint finds on your local computer. If you’re not wanting to have to scroll through multiple printer options from within the software when printing checks/reports (such as OneNone, Microsoft XPS, unwanted printers, etc) you can uncheck these boxes which will hide them from within the software. You’ll also need to uncheck the “Enable Sending Properties” box, then click OK.

Though the process has been completed, you’ll need to Restart Your Computer before Thinprint will be able to load your printers to the server.
